Robelo is an industrial designer from Pratt Institute in New York, based in Miami.
Robelo was born in the United States while her parents were in exile due to the war in Nicaragua. She comes from
an artistic family; her great-grandfather was a renowned architect and engineer who built one of the country's most
important works like the National Theater of Nicaragua. From a young age, Melissa showed a unique interest in creative disciplines,
enjoying jewelry, painting, and fashion, which led her to pursue a life dedicated to art and design.
Her passion was solidified during her studies in Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in New York, where she formally
entered the fascinating world of design. During this time, she had the opportunity to explore various fields through
internships at different studios, such as Patricia Urquiola, where she found an inexhaustible source of inspiration and
learning, discovering the importance of creativity, refined aesthetics, and boundless innovation.
After graduating, Robelo began her professional journey in interior and furniture design, working at major industry
firms in the United States, such as Jonathan Adler and Todd Bracher. She was also accepted into the Parsons School
of Design and Pratt Institute MA Interior Design programs.
