Based in Old Montreal, fiber artist Annie Legault creates sculptural lighting pieces that explore the intersection of craft, function, and material poetry. Working under the name *Amulette* since 2013, her studio practice embraces slow design, favoring low-tech processes, hand-executed construction, and the tactile language of fiber.
BRIZA, named after a genus of delicate ornamental grasses, reflects this commitment to natural rhythm and softness. Part of the award-winning RAW Collection (Rado Star Prize Canada – Public Choice, 2019), the piece channels the spirit of 1960s and ’70s fiber art, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Each suspension is made entirely by hand, using flame-retardant cotton, natural jute, or nylon, depending on the chosen materiality and atmosphere desired.
The result is more than a lighting object: BRIZA becomes a sculptural presence — elemental, quiet, and grounding. Its form evokes movement and breath, while its construction reveals the precision and humanity of time-intensive textile work.
Made to order in limited editions, BRIZA is intended for collectors who value material integrity, emotional design, and one-of-a-kind production.
