Eundam Hwang talks about the value of life through furniture that is closest to everyday life. She expresses energies in her inner side through color-field abstract and geometric diagram using various formative language and materials, especially hanji.
‘Blooming’ is intended to capture the birth and blooming of various life forms at the beginning of spring. The exterior of the painting is expressed with emphasis on a natural and organic appearance, in contrast to the stereotyped geometric appearance that we are used to. In addition, the main material, hanji, is contrasted with urban and modern materials to maximize naturalness and warmth. It is mainly made of paper porridge composed of Korean paper and pulp paper, making it an environmentally friendly manufacturing process and lead to results that are close to nature. It is one of Korean traditional hanji craft techniques called ‘Jiho-technique’ and Hwang wanted to show various techniques through my works.
