This striking wall sculpture, conceived by the design team of Lørdag & Søndag in Mexico City, has been intricately hand-woven by the esteemed artisan Don Claudio, nestled within the majestic Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range in Oaxaca, México.
Drawing inspiration from the sinuous form of a rattlesnake and a mythical sculpture of Ahuítzotl, a legendary aquatic creature adorned with a human hand at its tail, the piece echoes themes from pre-Hispanic folklore. These serpentine creations are masterfully crafted without any internal metal support, showcasing the resilience and flexibility of the G’noo Xombé Nisin fiber, a material named in the indigenous Mazatec tongue of the local artisans.
Each Artefacto stands as a testament to the region’s rich cultural heritage, weaving together the threads of ancient mythology with the artistry of modern design.
This piece is a sculpture that can be hung on the wall
