Scent, Space & Self – En Doft Joins PERSONA Creating a Multisensory Experience at 3daysofdesign

In our daily lives, scent works quietly. It escapes visual definition, yet holds the power to shift moods, conjure memories, and change the way we move through space. It is this elusive but potent quality that lies at the heart of Persona, ADORNO’s immersive exhibition for 3daysofdesign, where the atmosphere is not only crafted through objects, materials, and light—but through the slow unfolding of perfume in the air.

This year, ADORNO welcomes En Doft as scent partner for the exhibition, inviting visitors to experience design not just through the eye or the hand, but through the nose—the most intimate and primal of our senses. Founded in 2022 by Stockholm-based All Matters Studio and French perfumer Emmanuel Martini, En Doft is dedicated to the creation of room perfumes that translate spatial narratives into olfactory experiences. Their fragrances are quiet compositions built from fine raw ingredients, distilled memories, and imagined places—crafted and bottled in small batches in Martini’s Copenhagen studio.

The exhibition unfolds in three chapters—The Eccentric, The Perfectionist, and The Romantic—each conceived as a spatial portrait of a personality type. As scent enters the equation, these rooms become not just scenes, but moods. En Doft’s fragrances don’t decorate the space; they animate it, inviting us to inhabit the emotional terrain behind each persona.

The Eccentric: DOMUS SANCTUS

Stepping into The Eccentric is like walking into a vivid, unpredictable mind. Colors clash, forms rebel, and the unexpected takes center stage. The scent that carries this world is DOMUS SANCTUS—a balsamic, smokey, and spiritual perfume that forgoes fleeting top notes in favor of a deep and lasting intensity. It opens mid-breath with warm myrrh, amber, and labdanum, followed by cedar, leather, oud, and patchouli. There is no prelude—only presence. It’s a scent that doesn’t ask for permission. It surrounds, enfolds, and stays, echoing the magnetic force of this room’s expressive objects.

The Perfectionist: INSULA MANE

In contrast, The Perfectionist offers a sense of calm, order, and clarity. This space feels composed. Natural light is diffused just so, and every object has its rhythm. To reflect this, En Doft’s INSULA MANE draws from a Mediterranean morning—the moment when sunlight hits the garden stones and a light breeze brings in the day. Notes of bergamot and lemon give way to jasmine, fig leaves, and lentisque shrub, grounded by cypress and labdanum. It is precise, fresh, and contemplative. In this room, scent acts as architecture—an invisible structure that holds everything in balance.

The Romantic: OLIBANUM III

The Romantic moves differently. Here, emotion lingers in the corners, softness takes shape in curves, and nostalgia is always near. The scent is OLIBANUM III, a luminous and floral perfume inspired by the ancient resin known as frankincense—Olibanum, or “Oil of Lebanon.” Opening with jasmine and Indian olibanum over ginger and clove, the fragrance slowly descends into creamy sandalwood, cedar, and juniper tar. It’s intimate and enveloping—like a handwritten letter, a familiar voice, or a warm evening light filtering through sheer curtains. In this space, scent becomes memory made material.

Together, these olfactory compositions heighten Persona’s multisensory ambition. They carry the exhibition beyond its visual and tactile dimensions and into something more immersive—an atmosphere that unfolds slowly and lives on after the visitor has gone. With En Doft’s collaboration, Persona becomes a study in the invisible: how design can reach us before we even realize, how scent can define character, and how space, in the end, is something we feel as much as we see.
