Curatorial Statement
Collaboration, passion and curiosity – this is what I want to investigate with the collection “Danish Predictions”. The last years have showed us that there is no time or space for elusive and soulless creations or surroundings. Designers must always be present and inventive to be able to come up with new ideas or new ways to make use of old ideas. And just as important, we must be present and inventive in order to sense life fully to be able to create and to be able to appreciate. The Danish designers selected for “Danish Predictions” are all working with the creative making as a tool to physically manifest and predict future scenarios, told through form, material and color.
When I wonder what is imminent? I see some of the fruitful answers in this collection. The use of biodegradable materials, generations working together celebrating diversity, designers commenting on pollution as a consequence of modern consumption, the use of classical handicraft methods, refining them through thousands of hours in the workshop in order to create a modern expressive statements. These are some of the Danish predictions I for one will keep an eye on. I have always believed that what we surround ourselves with shapes us, today it´s something I know.
