Highlights from Design Miami/Basel 2017

Last week, Design Miami/Basel presented its most far-reaching edition ever, taking a powerful stand against the dark state of the world and reaffirming design’s powerful ability to bond and bring together.

“Looking around our world in 2017 – from the US to the UK, France and beyond – it is with great pride that this edition of Design Miami/ Basel will be the most diverse ever,” said Rodman Primack, the fair’s chief creative officer. “More countries than any previous edition are represented at the fair, and a broader range of styles and aesthetics than ever before.”

For its twelfth edition, Design Miami/Basel presents 46 galleries from 11 different countries, and counts among those — for the first time — a South American gallery. Bringing together collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from around design’s world, this global forum for design is always a place to take the temperature of contemporary design, and this year’s iteration featured some compelling standouts. Herewith, a small selection of the most interesting contemporary pieces and exhibitors on view this year.
