The Anicca Vanitas Incense Holder by Luca Gruber is made from sheet metal brass. The brass pieces are hand-polished from the outside to a mirror-like finish, while the inside is patinated to create a dark brass texture. It can hold a single incense stick and reflects the whole room on its polished surface. While burning down the incense, the ash can be collected around and underneath the brass dome. The interplay between the polished brass and the patinated inner surface reflects the tension between permanence and impermanence – a central theme of the Anicca Vanitas Collection.
Part of the larger Anicca Vanitas Collection, this incense holder is more than just a functional object; it is a meditation on the beauty of transient moments. The design elevates the sensory experience, inviting the viewer to engage with the fleeting yet profound essence of scent. The incense holder is part of the Anicca Vanitas Collection, which includes several other well-being pieces, like a vase, candlesticks, a scent diffuser and a censer.
Like all of Gruber’s pieces, this piece is intended as a physical ode to the craftsmen’s labour and to the subtle qualities of matter subject to human action.
The piece can be made in different metals and finishes on demand. It doesn’t include the incense sticks.
