Description

The Melpomene vase is a striking piece of art with a unique and rugged charm. The vase has a cylindrical shape with a slightly tapering top, which is notably irregular and appears intentionally broken or distressed, adding to its character. The surface of the vase is textured with a combination of natural, earthy tones and a glaze that gives it a weathered, ancient look. Various shades of beige, brown, and hints of blue and green create a rustic and worn appearance. The body is adorned with subtle horizontal grooves and a rough, almost fossil-like pattern. The vase was made using naturally sourced clay collected throughout Spain. The glaze is a mixture of seashells, wood ash and volcanic ash. The piece is meant to be unique. As such, there is also a place for flowers to exude out of the base of the vase, such as the photo with a single white chrysanthemum is placed, contrasting beautifully with the vase’s earthy colors and highlighting its artistic imperfections. This piece exudes a sense of history and timeless beauty, making it a captivating addition to any space.

We work with natural materials, sourcing biomaterials from a mixture of urban and rural environments depending on the project. We are inspired by ecosystems of the periphery, or the places unseen, questioning the hierarchy of value that we are accustomed to. We want to create value through story and process, giving voice to material. By doing so, it gives us the opportunity to create sustainability, through organic shapes and forms that reach sensuality and pleasure. We live and work in Madrid, but seek project focus in the countryside of our childhood homes in southern France, and Bulgaria.
