Description

The”Umber Blue (UB)” series by Byungsub Kim was inspired by Korean artist Yun hyong-keun. Large brushstrokes expressing the modest and humble virtues of Korean traditional aesthetics are replaced by grinding steel, the basic material of modern aesthetics, and oxidizing and coloring it using Ebonol-C. Also, oxidation-corrosive parts show the passage of time of steel.

Over time, the corrosion area of iron may widen.

About Byungsub Kim Visit Showroom →

Byungsub Kim is a designer based in Seoul. His work occupies the space between tradition and the contemporary world, where he merges elements of both to create innovative pieces. Drawing inspiration from antique Korean furniture, brushstrokes in painting, and the modern environment around him, Kim uses steel—typically a rigid and conventional material—to explore new textures and colors, offering a fresh perspective on its potential. His designs extend beyond furniture, transforming everyday objects into immersive spaces that invite both functionality and aesthetic reflection.
