The intention to come up with such a mix of materials is driven by the city’s strong call for Zeitgeist. There is a scene in Berlin determining certain tendencies influenced by endless vernissages and the polymathic range of creativity. Odd combinations of materials and textures, from fashion to art, call for a very unique appearance of people and objects.
Our intention is to create pieces that reflect our very own perception of a city that is the core of our inspiration – Berlin. Trying to capture everything in-between an emotion and visual aesthetic we want the result to be as changeable as Berlin is itself. At the same time we were searching for a silhouette that we understand as highly contemporary and that translates our understanding for form and shape. The object is meant to reflect our studios personality, our desire for aesthetics and our need for joy. In addition to that we wanted to find a way for working with strongly different materials that gained our interest in the last months of working and bring them into dialog within one object. The modular construction of each „Toy“ is meant to give its owner the opportunity to change the outer appearance in a way it feels most harmonic to him – keeping the overall idea of the specific object. In that sense you could say that there’s an interaction forced between the studio and the collector.
