    Description

    Sudor is a lamp that is a structure that works as a table lamp or wall lamp. The design of this lamp arises from the gesture of filtering the light of the lamp with a handkerchief. A structure was designed that adapts to multiple domestic situations and different positions and that can be covered with the clothes that you take off when you get home. We have thought of it with different variables, from underwear such as thongs or briefs or boxers, but also with tights, tank tops, the classic blue shirt or jockstraps. Also with the aim of rescuing the original idea of ​​the handkerchief we have designed a series of handkerchiefs with images of sweaty bodies that can also be used on the lamp.

    The lamp contains the structure and one of the garments selected by the buyer. The idea is that it can be modified during use by changing the clothing items to the user’s taste.

    Sudor was born in Madrid in 2024. as project collaboration between Omar Miranda artist and architect and the fashion designer and creative Rubén Gómez. Sudor is the Spanish word for sweat, that fluid which permeates our clothes with every movement of our bodies, the organic imprint left behind by our actions. The intention behind this project is to turn that imprint into an object, an apparatus, a lamp to set the atmosphere in the spaces where we find rest and refuge after exerting our bodies. Sudor is a line of action and exploration rooted in this idea. The lampshade is an extension of the body, of the fluids and smells we exude. The sweat-drenched garments or the trompe-l’œil handkerchiefs with images of sweaty bodies created specifically for this edition become part of the object and act as a screen to diffuse the light. The lamp is also a gesture: placing a handkerchief or item of clothing over a light to filter it, getting undressed, returning to the intimacy of the naked body draped in light. We envision an image of clothes piling up, mountains of fabric that change the intensity and tone of the light as a language of space—light articulated through our everyday actions. Sudor is about hanging, tossing, overlaying and stretching fabrics over a hanger that can be placed on a table or the floor or hung on the wall. Sudor can be either sexy or pragmatic; through this object, we aim to reflect on the nature of work, pleasure, sex, the market, intimacy, affection and the mutability of objects.
