Quetschi by Thomas Waidhofer is a work series of lamps and furniture based on a crimped cross connection of 50mm aluminum tubes. Mostly, the joints are necessary to create stability or shapes, but they can also be introduced just as a style element. The crimped surfaces are made with a custom-built workshop press. The squeezing creates strong forces in the material, sometimes leading to cracks and fractures, but these are considered imperfections. When used as a lamp, the wiring is visible on the outside, which is meant to be a statement against the flawlessness of modern lighting design, which always means less lamp and more light.
