Description

Kugri chairs by B.C. Joshua are made to resemble early forms of seating where materials reflected their immediate surroundings (stone and wood). Kugri is a Ghanaian term from the Nangodi region meaning the earth spriting-stone. They have vine like back rests made from scots pine which protude from the back as if engulfed by the stone like paper.

The stones are made from a material called GyPulp (recycled paper mixed with salvaged and ground plasterboard) and are built around a wooden and wired armature, making for a very strong base.
