DISORDINE by Joana Teixeira represents the materialization of our transformation as individuals, expressed through design—a messenger object. We begin life as an aluminum cube with perfect geometry, smooth faces, unformed, and pure. However, external factors inevitably shape our form, and our being, but never our essence. All the deformation of this piece is done by hand and with human strength, making each piece unique and singular—a messenger and representation of human transformation. This deformation has a poetic side, as the shapes of the sheet metal caused by the hammer reflect the light softly, akin to the sun shining on water. In other words, the altered, crude, raw, and deformed side results in a special, glimmering particularity.
In this case it’s the prototype, i.e. the base piece of study for the final result.
