Kristine Engelbrecht’s “Collage wood poster” is an interpretation of a textile wallhanging A Hint of Neon made in 2015. Like her “Collage wood brick” piece, the work combines wooden “bricks” of various sizes and heights into geometric abstractions that play with negative space. The various relationships between the component bricks create gaps, overlapping layers and shadows that interact with and inflect the shapes of the bricks themselves.
