Description

A unique stoneware sculpture by Vale Ro, enhanced with personally formulated glazes designed to mimic the effect of glass. This piece is part of a series called “Atravesar,” where curves are used to map the invisible, tracing paths and revealing hidden connections. Inspired by the ancestral Shipibo-Konibo designs known as Kené, these patterns are considered manifestations of the cosmic energy of the anaconda, the mother of ayahuasca. Kené represents not only a form of ancestral art but also a profound connection with roots, dreams, and the natural environment.

In a world captivated by surface beauty, “Bowels” dares to unearth and revalue the often-overlooked spaces. The series reflects the constant interaction and interconnectivity that often go unnoticed in our surroundings. As your eyes follow the sculpture’s undulating curves, you are invited to embrace the complexities within the human experience.

About Vale Ro Visit Showroom →

I am a Peruvian multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona, dedicated to experimenting with intuitive organic forms inspired by patterns and inclinations often found around us. Growing up surrounded by the immense beauty of the Amazon shaped my artistic fixation, instilling a profound passion for exploring patterns embedded in nature that intricately connect the core of our existence. My body of work combines drawing, painting, and sculpture to bring to life the hidden stories within these natural forms. I believe that everything, be it human or not shares a strong connection. We have been dismissing that fact, and through my work, I aim to shift focus not only to the appearance of objects but also to their significance and existence. I craft intentional objects to create a visual language that portrays the experience of organic sensations while provoking a sense of movement and interconnectivity. Each stroke, inclination, and curve serves as a portal for exploring the concealed narratives within every pattern. With my work, I strive to emphasize the unseen and felt dimensions of our existence, highlighting the profound beauty and complexity of our surroundings and ourselves. Each piece is a testament to the stories and connections that bind us all, inviting viewers to engage with the deeper meanings and interconnectedness of the natural world.
