COMUNE Returns to Milan Design Week 2025

COMUNE returns to Milan Design Week with its second edition, continuing its mission to redefine how design is presented in urban spaces. Born from a desire to showcase creatives in non-obvious settings, its inaugural event attracted approximately 2,000 visitors in just three days, affirming the appetite for this fresh approach. Co-curated by the visionary team of The Good Living Co., LEXAVALA, and DÉRIVE, alongside acclaimed set designer Anna Szczesny, this year’s exhibition promises a boundary-pushing experience that merges various design disciplines in dynamic new ways.

COMUNE embodies a philosophy of transience and flexibility—a pop-up concept not tethered to any single location. Each iteration adapts and evolves, with organizers prioritizing interesting spaces that challenge exhibition norms. Created and built on principles of equality and mutual support, COMUNE is driven by people and their designs, constantly expanding the “Galaxy of COMUNE”.

Hosted at SuperSpatial, COMUNE integrates design into the urban fabric, facilitating casual encounters with creativity and prioritizing inspiration over commercial interests.

ADORNO Studios Participating at COMUNE

The Good Living Co.

The Good Living & Co., founded in 2019 by Monika Szyca-Thomas, is a family-owned manufactory blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Creating handmade furniture in the same workshop established by her grandfather in 1957, they celebrate the timeless quality of steel through generations-old techniques. As one of COMUNE’s co-creators, they bring their dedication to locally-made, hand-crafted excellence to this innovative exhibition platform.

Lexavala

Lexavala, founded in 2018 by Jakub Szkaradek, is a Polish brand crafting handmade lamps and objects in their Nowy Sącz manufactory. Their designs draw inspiration from industrial lighting and luxury materials that were once inaccessible in 1990s Poland. By blending craftsmanship with industrial techniques, Lexavala creates accessible, functional pieces that are both aesthetically pleasing and affordable. As one of COMUNE’s co-creators, they champion timeless design that becomes part of people’s personal stories rather than following fleeting trends.

DÉRIVE

DÉRIVE began as a collaborative project between Adam Skotarczak and Jan Gliński—friends from Szczecin, Poland—before evolving into a full design studio. Their complementary approaches merge Adam’s exploration of organic forms and unpredictability in 3D printing with Jan’s development of modular stainless steel systems. Together, they create minimalistic, honest, and functional objects suited for both public and domestic spaces. As a co-creator of COMUNE, DÉRIVE brings their innovative material exploration and systematic approach to this boundary-pushing exhibition platform.

HEAKO

HEAKO, an emerging artist and designer from Brooklyn, approaches her craft with a sense of playfulness and experimentation. Her lighting and furniture pieces seamlessly blend practicality with distinctive style, drawing inspiration from avant-garde movements like Bauhaus. Her work features clean lines and geometric shapes that apply modern sensibilities to classic design principles. Through thoughtful design and meticulous craftsmanship, each of HEAKO’s creations tells a unique story while inviting viewers to appreciate the beauty of simplicity in everyday objects.

Worn Studio

Worn Studio, founded by Natalia Ortega, is a furniture and product studio based in Spain. As a Craft Expert Art Designer with extensive international experience, Natalia positions craftsmanship at the forefront of her practice. Working with diverse materials including clay, wood, textiles, stone, leather, and blown glass, she creates thoughtful objects, furniture, and lighting. Her work celebrates slowness and intention while fostering respect for natural resources. Through her contemporary creations, Natalia brings awareness to both human presence and the inherent value of non-living things.

Hypothesis Furniture

Hypothesis Furniture, created by Wang Eunji, challenges conventional design by encouraging users to discover the purpose of each piece through interaction. Moving beyond typical form and function considerations, Eunji’s approach emphasizes the relationship between object and user. Through subtle structural and functional variations, she creates furnishings that spark new experiences and interpretations. These thoughtful modifications shift both spatial dynamics and user experiences, resulting in practical yet deeply sensory environments where furniture and people engage in their own unique dialogue.

PROSA

PROSA is a design and craft studio founded by Julia Rovigo and Gabriel Pesca. The studio focuses on creating artistic furniture that embodies emotional and cultural memories while showcasing technique, study, and poetry. Through their thoughtful research and development process, Rovigo and Pesca explore natural materials to discover organic and authentic forms. Their work reflects a dedication to craftsmanship that honors both material integrity and the deeper narratives embedded in functional objects.

Lucas Cambier

Lucas Cambier is a multidisciplinary design studio founded by the eponymous French designer in 2022. After completing five years of design studies in Toulon, Cambier established his practice, working across interior design, industrial design, 3D imagery, and collectible furniture and objects. His distinctive “soft brutalist” approach creates an emotional interplay between geometric minimalism, constructivism, and organic materiality. The resulting pieces are simultaneously monolithic and sculptural in their use of raw materials, making gentle yet engaging statements within living spaces.

Mati Sipiora

Mati Sipiora’s brand aims to disrupt monochromatic interiors with bold finishes and playful forms. His design clearly draws from 1980s aesthetics and the Memphis movement, incorporating these influences throughout the brand’s entire identity. The retrofuturistic style prominent in sci-fi films of that era strongly defines the brand’s distinct personality. Mati embraces the unusual, believing that colorful, intriguing, and artistic objects create meaningful tension between observer and observed. This philosophy drives his creation of pieces featuring bold colors and forms, culminating in his distinctive design approach.

Obscure Objects

Obscure Objects is the collaborative design practice founded in 2023 by Luisa Pöpsel and Moritz Pitrowski. United by their shared interest in unconventional approaches and a delight in unexpected outcomes, the duo creates holistic experiences through materiality, light perception, and bold shapes. Their practice spans collectible design, product design, and interior design, reflecting their commitment to creating distinctive objects and environments that challenge conventional expectations.

Hasik Design Studio

Hasik Design Studio specializes in interior design and the production of high-quality bespoke objects. Founded by the creative duo Grzegorz and Tomasz, their practice emphasizes durability and timelessness. The studio designs carefully crafted items from quality materials intended to last for generations. Their creations are based on archetypal forms—circles and rectangles with simple joinery—celebrating the natural beauty of wood and stone, as well as the evolving patina of metals. Hasik’s thoughtfully designed products engage the senses, fostering atmospheres of tranquility and contemplation.

Pani Jurek

Pani Jurek was founded by Magda Jurek, an artist and designer based in Poland. She brings a distinctly conceptual approach to her work, creating products that challenge conventions and standard expectations. Her designs are adaptable and interactive, allowing users to rearrange and reimagine them within their spaces while awakening personal creativity. As an advocate for sustainability, Jurek extends her design philosophy beyond aesthetics. She was also a co-founder of the Association “Based in Warsaw,” an initiative focused on social design and creating meaningful interventions for public spaces.

Aeditto

Aeditto specializes in customizable 3D-printed interior pieces that merge artful design with innovative materials and sustainable practices. Their collection encompasses lamps, stools, side tables, and other pieces designed to add personality to contemporary spaces. Each creation can be tailored to individual preferences, offering unique combinations of colors, textures, and finishes. Through collaborations with forward-thinking designers, Aeditto explores the creative potential of 3D printing technology, producing pieces that provide exceptional design freedom while maintaining a reduced environmental footprint and supporting local production.

Standard Equipment

Standard Equipment, by Joshua Walter Gadomski, creates unified systems designed to transform domestic spaces into environments that foster positive emotional states. Each product serves as an integral component of their overarching vision, harmonizing function and form to enhance daily living. The distinctive ‘S’ and ‘E’ markings on their products represent a registered corporation dedicated to crafting thoughtful tools for everyday use. These creations reflect a commitment to design, quality, and intentionality, elevating ordinary objects to extraordinary experiences.
