Bookmark Your Calendars: ADORNO Joins COLLECTIBLE KIOSK

This September, COLLECTIBLE NYC launches COLLECTIBLE KIOSK, a new initiative that brings publishing and design together in one curated space. The section will gather leading international magazines such as Another Man, Dazed, PIN–UP, Kaleidoscope, and Ursula, alongside a curated selection of rare European books. The result is a cultural hub that celebrates both the act of reading and the presence of design.

ADORNO has been invited to join this special collaboration, presenting a tightly curated selection of storage pieces from three New York-based design studios: Andy Kim, Mock Studio, and Studio Daae. These functional objects – ranging from architectural shelving to seating inspired by memory – show how contemporary design can both complement, display, and expand the world of books and publishing.

Andy Kim’s sleek book cart embodies architectural thinking applied to everyday functionality. Crafted from lightweight yet durable aluminum, this mobile storage solution accommodates books of all sizes while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Its thoughtful design makes it an essential piece for organizing and displaying collections with effortless style.

Garden Stool – Chrome Plated Aluminum by andykim.global

This petite stool carries deep personal resonance, reimagining the Korean bath stool from Kim’s memory – a little box used while showering at bathhouses with his father or his grandmother’s gardening stool. The chrome-plated aluminum piece serves as a tangible reminder of rituals that have disappeared, transforming memory into functional design.

Domino Bookshelf In Aluminum by MOCK Studio

The free-standing Domino Bookshelf, constructed from welded quarter-inch aluminum plates, functions as both display and spatial divider. Its cantilevered geometry and open profile create a striking architectural presence specifically designed for medium-format books, embodying MOCK Studio’s philosophy of understated elegance.

Shear 02 & Shear 18″ Walnut Wood Side Tables by MOCK Studio

These companion pieces – Shear 02 and Shear 18″ – showcase MOCK Studio’s innovative geometric technique, where shearing is applied to each component before assembly. The process dramatically alters the tables’ proportions, creating fascinating interplays of perspective that change as viewers move around them. Crafted from rich walnut wood with deep, warm tones, these tables blur the line between furniture and sculpture.

Tip Top Shelf by Studio Daae

Inspired by years of cycling through New York’s ever-changing architectural landscape, Michael Daae Christensen’s Tip Top shelf captures the dynamic quality of the city’s skyline in solid oak. The shelf’s expression transforms as you move around it, much like discovering new building perspectives while navigating the city, bringing architectural inspiration down to a relatable, tactile scale. The design was first announced in a baby-blue version for ADORNO’s PERSONA exhibition at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen.

The ADORNO selection at COLLECTIBLE KIOSK brings narrative depth into a space devoted to books and ideas. Each object has its own story: Kim’s chrome stool is rooted in memory, Christensen’s oak shelf echoes New York’s skyline, and MOCK Studio’s sculptural tables shift with perspective. Together, they show how design can stand alongside publishing as a form of storytelling.

At Water Street Projects, from September 4 to 7, COLLECTIBLE KIOSK will curate magazines, rare books, and objects into a carefully composed environment. ADORNO’s contribution underscores the shared terrain between reading and design: a space where form, memory, and culture intersect.
