Curatorial Statement
Guadalajara is the second most populated city in Mexico. The capital of the state of Jalisco, has an immense cultural richness and a deep artistic and craft tradition.
The homeland of writers such as Juan Rulfo and Juan José Arreola and world-renowned muralists such as José Clemente Orozco, Guadalajara is also known for the important craft production of towns such as Tonalá and Tlaquepaque, where since the sixteenth century there has been excellent ceramic production. Guadalajara is then a land where talent is cultivated and material culture is promoted.
Design has been a fundamental part of this cultural legacy and in recent years an interesting generation of architects and designers have devoted their work to produce objects with the taste of western Mexico, taking up artisanal techniques and highlighting the cultural heritage of the territory.
For this Adorno collection, we have compiled a selection of objects and furniture designed by a new generation of Guadalajara talents, who know their cultural legacy, their wealth and tradition, but are also aware of the importance of generating a contemporary language.
