After graduating with a degree in industrial design, Paolo Ulian worked from 1990 to 1992 in the Enzo Mari studio in Milan. Immediately after, he founded his own design studio together with his brother Giuseppe. Born and raised in Massa Carrara, Italy, he has always had a predilection for marble, which was the first material he used and which he has continued to work with over the years. He has often created his designs using semi-processed marble or products already available on the market to create new objects. For the past ten years, he has been interested in exploring the new world of numerical control technology, utilizing both the positive and the negative aspects of the worked material to avoid any waste. Some of his projects have been acquired by the Triennale Design Museum, the London Design Museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Art.
