The REmix project is a concept created by BD Barcelona Design with the aim of REcovering, REcycling, and REusing the obsolete material that accumulates in warehouses to give it a second chance.

Belén Moneo faced this challenge in the new edition (vol.5), converting old stock legs into a limited edition bookshelf and colorful collection of bookends that will be part of the BD Art Edition’s catalogue. The legs are from the Romana table that his father, architect Rafael Moneo, has designed for Catalan furniture in 2001.

REmix pretends to learn by looking at familiar pieces in a new way, challenging our perception of what is an artistic piece, which means transforming a functional object – subverting practical use for beauty. REmix raises the process of creating unique pieces and giving value to what already exists – infusing new lite.

About Moneo Brock Studio Visit Showroom →

Belén Moneo is an architect and founding partner of Moneo Brock, an international architectural, planning and design firm of versatile professionals committed to the identification and implementation of sustainable solutions, with great faith in the promise of good design. Belén studied Art History and Visual Arts at Harvard University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1988. In 1991, she obtained a Master of Architecture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation in New York. Since 2014 she has also taught Architectural Analysis at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid. She has participated in conferences in the USA, Japan, China, Turkey, Panama, Mexico or Peru. Her architectural projects and product designs have been published extensively in international publications. Currently, she is working on projects in Spain, Mexico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
