Alcova, the anticipated annual event during Milan Design Week, is set to unfold its seventh edition from April 15-21, 2024, showcasing a blend of experimental design, architectural marvels, and thought-provoking discussions. This year, Alcova will inhabit two of Milan’s most remarkable villas: Villa Borsani and Villa Bagatti Valsecchi, epitomizing the fusion of design heritage and contemporary exploration.
Villa Borsani, a modernist gem completed in 1945 by Osvaldo Borsani, is celebrated for its innovative design and lush gardens, featuring a unique Lucio Fontana fireplace. It acts as the heartbeat of the Archivio Osvaldo Borsani, preserving the legacy of Italian design.
Villa Bagatti Valsecchi, with its roots in the 19th century, was a noble family’s summer haven, showcasing Lombardy’s architectural prowess. These historic venues, a mere 25-minute journey from central Milan via the S2 and S4 lines, provide the perfect backdrop for Alcova’s exploration of living and making’s future.
Alcova is more than an event; it’s a platform where designers, companies, and researchers converge to redefine the parameters of design. Since its inception in 2018 by Valentina Ciuffi of Studio Vedèt and Joseph Grima of Space Caviar, Alcova has emerged as a pivotal space within the Fuorisalone, attracting over 90,000 attendees keen on experiencing the cutting edge of design culture. Its commitment to showcasing innovative living environments, products, and materials makes it a cornerstone for those looking to glimpse the future of design.
