For CHAWAN—an immersive exhibition and matcha tasting ritual hosted inside New York’s most distinguished listening room, Silence Please on the Bowery, Manhattan, during NYCxDESIGN 15-21 May, 2025. Studio S II’s RSA (Rhythmic Slow Activity) Matcha Bowl channels the tranquility of deep theta wave patterns by sonifying the tones of Lake Tazawa in Akita, Japan. The sound waves are manipulated into a 3-dimensional form, resulting in a silhouette that melds sonic precision with fluidity. The RSA Matcha Bowl is a functional object and a meditative conduit, inviting users to introspect.
