Description

This Emirati Clay x Italian Murano Glass collection from Emirati designer Fatima Al Zaabi and Italian designer Matteo Silverio explores the analogies between different materials, crafts, cultures and heritages. It aims to enhance the craft dialogue by merging hand- and machine-made techniques.

Each piece uses parametric design and digital fabrication tools to create moulds, while artisans directly manipulate the glass and clay in the moulds.

This collection aims to demonstrate how tradition and innovation can coexist in the same project, which is why the daring experiment highlights how glass and clay can be elements of the same object.

This piece has been produced during the “Crafts Dialogue” initiative by Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council.
