The Medusa mirror by VIATOV is a neo-baroque style mirror designed in collaboration with Italian architect and designer Roberto Semprini. This piece pays homage to Caravaggio’s Head of Medusa, painted in 1597. Caravaggio’s artwork was commissioned by the Medici family as a ceremonial shield, symbolizing courage in overcoming adversaries. In Greek mythology, Medusa is a figure with snakes for hair, who turned people to stone with her gaze. This Medusa mirror consists of three layers of snake panels surrounding a central round mirror. Snakes are made up of plexiglass panels with electron beam evaporation technology, a time-tested deposition process widely used in the semiconductor industry for producing dense and high-quality coatings.
