An indoor wave that creates a pause and consciousness for a moment. The sea can be a respite from everyday bustle and stress. Its waves and sensuous aesthetics create its calming presence. “Light Waves” intends to interpret the sea; its depths, wave paths, and light glimpses – together through perspective and motion, it creates a changeable and present lighting moment.
“Light Waves” consist of a stainless-steel frame – that holds onto an acrylic screen and is lit up with a LED panel between the frame and the screen. On the acrylic, there are 14 hand-sewn rows of polyester lamellas – each of which forms its own wave. By turning the lamella 180°, a tension in the lamella occurs that creates and holds onto a curved shape. Depending on the length of the lamella and the distance between where it is attached to the screen, the curve varies and creates a rhythmic wave pattern that changes format depending on which perspective one stands in relation to it.
