Description

The LAVA chair takes inspiration from Gerrit Rietveld’s work, specifically the Military Chair. Its blocky, minimalist, symmetrical form is held in place using interlaced wood.
The base is composed by 4 squared bars laid vertically & horizontally.
The backrest is supported by two elongated beams stretched beyond the vertical, which push onto the lower horizontal beam of wood allowing it to have flexibility when leaning on the backrest. This was fitted together using bolts and doweling.

About Jaclyn Pappalardo Visit Showroom →

Jaclyn is a designer and maker based in London. Her background in set design informs her creative work as a designer. Colour and texture play an important role in developing each and every project. Jaclyn looks at furniture not only as a functional object but rather as a study of body, shape and language. Her work incorporates unconventional design techniques that stretch far from traditional craftsmanship. Exploring new techniques and material driven processes such as metal forming and non-traditional upholstery, she builds on similar profiles and repetitive patterns in the aim of creating something timeless.
