Description

Chair In Quilt is the result of an exploration of the potential within quilt. The familiarity of the material is challenged in the encounter with the chair. As a piece of clothing the quilt wraps itself around the frame creating the shape, aesthetic and comfort of the chair. The quilt is made of Kvadrat 100% wool textile and has an aluminum frame. The quilt and frame can be separated for cleaning of the upholstery.

About Lærke Ryom Visit Showroom →

Lærke Ryom is a young independent designer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. In her practice she investigates familiar materials and old crafts, where the recognizable is challenged when placed in new contexts. She uses material experiments as a sketch when she explores the tactile and narrative qualities of materials and tests their potential. Her work is flexible in scale and function, where an idea can manifest itself in different ways — for example as a quilted lamp or chair. The repetition is a recurring theme in her work and becomes meditative for the designer in the creation of the pieces.
