This collection of five incense holders by Victoria Daboub adopts organic shapes, resembling creatures emerging from the sea or out of a video game. Together, they exude a familial resemblance and evoke a sense of kinship. Their compact size, akin to that of a hand, amplifies their unconventional charm, adding an element of whimsy and playfulness. Their fluid form suggests a frozen movement, hinting at narratives of underwater exploration or virtual adventures.
These incense holders, produced in Amman, were created in close collaboration with local workshops. They’ve been a canvas for me and the artisans to experiment with different textures and colors, allowing for several rounds of experimentation. Each holder is more than just an object; it represents hours of discussions, trials, and the pursuit of perfection.
Gently wash with warm water and mild soap and dry with a soft cloth. These pieces will tarnish over time because they do not have a finish.
