    BOLD Shkam is a sculptural chair inspired by the traditional “shkam” – a symbolic stone or stool found in nearly every Albanian home, used for sitting, storytelling, or rituals. Reimagined by SHAPE & SHADE™, this piece transforms heritage into a bold design statement, fusing past and present through minimalism, geometry, and meaning.

    Crafted from sustainably sourced wood and finished with natural oils, the chair celebrates material honesty and timeless craftsmanship. Its modular form and monolithic silhouette allow it to function not only as a chair, but also as a side table or standalone sculptural object, making it adaptable across contemporary interiors.

    The BOLD Shkam is part of the wider BOLD COLLECTION, which reinterprets elements of the traditional Albanian house into contemporary furniture. Available in variations for adults and children, the collection emphasizes modularity, cultural continuity, and the power of objects to tell stories beyond function.

    Crafted from 100% plywood with a water-based color finish. Suitable for indoor/outdoor use. Legs assemble easily with a simple wooden twist mechanism.

    SHAPE & SHADE is a multidisciplinary architecture and design studio based in Prishtina and Istanbul. Our practice is rooted in the belief that design is both an emotional memory and a cultural gesture — a way of shaping space, stories, and material with care and clarity.
