Description

The Atotô Collection by Studio Pedro Galaso emerges as a reverence from the Designer and Visual Artist to his personal healing journeys. Since birth, Pedro has been a practitioner of Umbanda and has found in the orixá a path to physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Atotô is the salutation to the orixá Obaluaiê, a divinity in Afro-Brazilian religions like Candomblé and Umbanda.
The collection, comprising a wall sculpture, five pendant sculptures, and side tables, stems from the Designer’s desire to amalgamate the two healing powers of his process into a single collection: concentration and spirituality.
Concentration manifests through clay modeling. For over four years, Pedro has used this process as part of his mental treatment, under his psychiatrist’s guidance. Working with clay helps him release mental kinetic energy, alleviating hyperactivity and aiding in the management of ADHD.
Spirituality is expressed in the homage to the healing orixá, Obaluaiê, incorporating the reference to the straw garments he wears, which hide his wounds and illnesses in a healing manner.
24k gold plays a secondary yet essential role, representing the orixá Oxum, the Designer and Visual Artist’s guiding orixá and Obaluaiê’s greatest love. The gold symbolizes the benevolence in treating his wounds.
Each piece is unique, numbered, and handmade by the Designer and Visual Artist himself. He believes that by participating in the entire process, he transfers his gratitude for healing, hoping that this feeling reaches the home of each person who contemplates and acquires his pieces.

The Atotô Collection is entirely crafted using high-temperature fired clay, raffia straw, and 24k gold leaf.
