An armchair designed by Jaroslav Šmídek, model 53, produced by TON in Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. This mid-century modern piece exemplifies the elegance and craftsmanship of Czech design, with its sculptural bentwood frame and striking, artful upholstery.
The beechwood structure has been fully restored and finished with a hand-applied satin matte varnish that enhances the natural beauty of the wood. The seat has been reupholstered in “Convexe” velvet by Casamance – a luxurious, high-quality fabric featuring geometric and curved Art Deco–inspired motifs. Both visually dynamic and pleasant to the touch, the fabric also offers excellent durability for everyday use.
Professionally restored and ready to use, this chair makes a bold statement on its own or as part of a curated interior. Ideal for use in a reading nook, living space, or as an accent piece.
Made in Czechoslovakia. Fully restored.
