Yasmin Mora is a Mexico City-based Chicana textile designer and artist born and raised in California with roots in Jalisco, Mexico. As a self-taught textile artist, she wanted to be able to represent her dual identities, support local communities, and tell her story on her own terms. Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit, she launched Umaguma – a textile studio that combines her vibrant Mexican heritage with her passion for transforming spaces. Umaguma encompasses the expression of energy through free flowing, shape-shifting designs blended with traditional natural materials. Her practice embodies biology, ethereal spirit, and organic earth elements. Consciously handcrafting each piece with respect to her ancestral roots and personal identity.
