Justyna is a Polish artist/designer based in London, who works primarily with textiles, creating pieces that begin as quick digital sketches, spontaneous, instinctive gestures that aim to capture movement before it slips away. At the core of the practice lies the translation of something fleeting and intuitive into something material and structured. She is drawn to sharp, angular forms and rhythmic compositions that feel bold yet considered.
A muted palette defines much of the work, with colour used sparingly. Black plays a central role, adding weight and depth while creating a quiet intensity that allows the forms to take centre stage. There is a stillness the artist continually seeks to preserve, even when the shapes assert themselves with a certain loudness. Often described as brutalist, stark, or architectural, almost monolithic, the work is equally concerned with tactility and the impulse to touch. That sensory connection, intrinsic to textile art, is an essential part of the experience.
Every decision in the process is intentional, particularly when it comes to materials. She uses 100% New Zealand wool for its natural strength and softness and has replaced the standard polyester backing with organic hemp, a fast-growing, low-impact, and biodegradable alternative. This choice reflects a commitment to responsible making. Each piece is handcrafted, tufted, and stitched slowly and carefully, guided by the belief that process carries as much meaning as outcome.
