Biography |
Through objects and interiors, Nazara Lázaro seeks to transform spaces into sculptures while using her intuition to experiment with different techniques and materials.
Born and raised in Tenerife and currently based in Berlin, Lázaro has been navigating foreign lands throughout her life, developing a personal design language that is imbued with the patterns and traditions of the territories she has crossed and inhabited.
After studying at the Instituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, she spent almost two years exploring Japan by bike and gaining hands-on experience in traditional woodwork, architecture and exhibition design. Inspired by the story of the Silk Road, she decided to return to Europe by land and travelled across China and central Asia, delving into the interconnectedness of the habits and rituals of the people she encountered along the way.
Her exposure to different cultures is instilled in her pieces, interiors, sets and ephemeral installations that weave in her fascination with Japanese craftsmanship, the distinct climate of the Canary Islands, the burgeoning creative scene of the German capital, as well as her own femininity.
Bridging the physical and the intangible in the way she works, Lázaro uses 3D design to visualize her ideas and advance her research on form and materiality, which led her to establish, in 2023, HENADS, a creative practice focused on creating compelling and immersive virtual settings with a human-made sensitivity.
