Kasper Kyster (1994) chases the unknown. He seeks to test his intuition and experiment with materials and principles to achieve something spontaneous. His motivation is largely about the process of creating, about producing and chasing the unique rather than the perfect.
Based on topics such as statics, tectonics, form and function, he works uncompromisingly towards one concept that can become a piece of furniture or object. The limitation means that my work appears spontaneous and intuitive.
Kyster puts materials and craft above everything else. He is curious about how you can experiment with old crafts to give materials new aesthetics, and how modern technologies can redefine crafts' impact on aesthetics. With an always critical approach, he is interested in investigating and challenging the experiences of the past in order to form a bridge to a contemporary context.
Kysters practice is wide-ranging when he works with developing prototypes, experimenting and developing ideas, creating exhibition designs, one-off objects for exhibitions, his own production, as well as curating and project manegening of exhibitions as a co-founder of the exhibition platform and community for young designers, Ukurant.
