Jonghoo Jeong is a Korean designer currently based in the Netherlands, where he studies Contextual Design at Design Academy Eindhoven. His work is rooted in material exploration, driven by a deep interest in how physical objects can carry emotional weight, memory, and narrative. Instead of sticking to a single material or method, he lets each project evolve through research, allowing the concept and context to shape his material choices—whether that means using natural elements, industrial components, or something found by chance.
His practice moves across furniture, lighting, and sculpture, often walking the line between function and poetry. He’s especially drawn to the visual and emotional tension that can live within an object—created through contrast, subtle details, or the way something interacts with the space around it. Lately, he’s been focusing more on how light plays a role in that interaction: how it casts shadows, reveals textures, and sets the mood.
Influenced by both Korean material culture and the conceptual approaches he’s encountered in Europe, Jonghoo aims to bring together intuitive making with thoughtful reflection and research. With each piece, he hopes to spark a quiet moment of curiosity and presence for those who experience it.
