Born and raised in Maria da Fé, a city in the mountainous region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, Domingos Tótora returned to his hometown after studying design in São Paulo. He quickly discovered recycled cardboard and began to use it as the primary source material for his work, which comfortably embraces both fine art and design. Beginning with discarded bits of recycled cardboard, he creates objects and sculptures whose organic beauty is matched by their functionality, granting an artistic aura to everyday objects made from a little appreciated material.
