Curatorial Statement
How should we integrate design into our homes today?
How can we make it more intentional and sustainable?
How can we experiment with new materials and create a sensory experience?
ADORNO & TABLEAU are pleased to present ‘Getting There, Gradually’ – The first exhibition in a new collaboration between the digital gallery, ADORNO and the multidisciplinary studio and gallery, TABLEAU, with a goal to challenge the status quo of what it means to live with design today.
Through the curated works of 14 new talents from the Nordic Design and Art Academies, visitors will experience a simulation of a future home that addresses tomorrow’s issues through sustainable and artistic solutions. These makers are on a quest to detach from norms of traditional interiors and tap into idiosyncratic over predictable designs. Embedded ethos of modern spatial design is replaced by a notion of growing into a sustainable living space with unique pieces for one to explore, connect with, and indulge in. The aim is to push the inhabitants of the space to abandon their outdated habits and explore a more natural way of living.
The selection of the 14 artists was rooted in experimentation of material and shape to provoke and promote new ways of perceiving and thinking about home spaces. Sculptural qualities of the pieces are bringing an intriguing sensibility to the space, while a variety of textures and materials are creating a sensory experience.
