this bowl is organically grown from the mycelium of a regional medicinal mushroom and is comparable to wooden bowls for storing and serving dry food. i am fascinated by its lively texture and natural coloring, as well as its lightness and toughness. its weight and stability are comparable to cork, the surface is reminiscent of leather and it can be treated and cared for in the same way, for example with oil and wax. the surface of this example is untreated and yet already water-repellent, even if permanent contact with liquids would soften the material.
so consider this object not molded, but grown.
an earthy play of nuances and colors tells of its origin.
as a silent echo of the hidden networks of our regional nature.
