“No two beings exist in exactly the same form.”
This piece was created for Dutch Design Week 2024, beginning from the belief that no two beings are ever truly identical. It is composed of a real dried mushroom, discovered by chance at a shop in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and a natural stone collected directly from the sea in Kiel, Germany.
Rather than using processed materials, the work incorporates natural elements that carry their own passage of time and physical traces, aiming to reveal the inherent stories and presence embedded within them.
While it functions as a light, it also exists as a sculptural object—holding its form and presence even when turned off. When illuminated, the piece interacts with light to create organic, shifting shadows that subtly transform the atmosphere.
The intention was not only to design a lamp, but also to consider the visual relationship between light and shadow as an integral part of the work.
All aspects of the design, fabrication, and assembly were carried out by the artist.
The mushroom component of the lamp has been chemically treated for preservation and hardened, but it remains delicate. Please avoid handling or lifting the piece by the mushroom itself.
