Before refrigerators, clay vessels known as a ‘jarra’ were used to keep water cool. The water seeps through the walls and evaporates, leaving what’s inside cool and refreshing. Nowadays, for food safety, ceramics need to be glazed. Glazing, however, compromises the natural cooling effect of ceramics.
“Jarra” is a contemporary re-interpretation of this age old technique. Bringing back the taste of clay cooled ceramics, while meeting safety standards. This is possible through special glazing techniques and intricate production methods crafted by experienced artisans in Jordan.
1.25 L self-cooling carafe.
Instructions:
1- Keep the “Jarra” under cool running water for one minute.
2- Fill the “Jarra” with water.
3- Enjoy the refreshing taste of clay cooled water.
For optimal cooling effect, wet the exterior a few hours before serving.
