A letter from the founders

Since ADORNO launched its first country collections back in 2017, we have worked very hard to realize our mission to empower defining independent designers and studios, and the design communities that they are part of.

Over the last 6 years, the online business of the design industry has moved rapidly and we are very pleased with our accomplishments in supporting ADORNO members with digital promotion, editorial, sales, shipping, and exhibitions.

Assisting the members of ADORNO in these activities is and will continue to be our mission. But ADORNO is not a traditional gallery. We do not require exclusivity, and in many cases, sales take place directly between designers and clients as a result of ADORNO’s activities. We recognize this as a natural part of the market structure and therefore, we want to make ADORNO more attractive to use for our exclusive selection of members – not only as a sales platform, but also as a fine-tuned promotional media tool.

That’s why we have decided to introduce a paid membership with a monthly fee and a reduced commission rate, and simultaneously, increase our sales commission for non-paying members. We have been preparing for this transition for more than a year now and we can assure you that the concept has been discussed, tested and quality-assured to prove that we can deliver on our promises. This is also why we hope to have your support when we enter this new stage of ADORNO.

These changes will consolidate the ADORNO Team and allow us to provide better services for a select group of designers that we truly believe in – we would love to count you as one of them. As a result, we will ramp up our communication with you, making sure you use ADORNO as your back-office of agents, editors, shippers and marketers. We want to put your practice in the right league, and promote your work to an ever-growing global audience and client base through a set of clearly defined services described on this page. 

We have come a long way together, and we truly hope you will decide to continue your journey with us. With our consolidated team, our new business model, and refined set-up, we are absolutely certain we can improve the amount of our bespoke promotion and increase sales both on- and off the ADORNO platform.

No matter where in the world the buyer is located, our platform will make sure you charge the right taxes. Tax invoices can be downloaded for your accounting.

When a piece is sold the only thing you need to do is to pack the piece according to the guidelines, print the labels, and order a pickup.

Our Global Shipping Solution ensures that buyers will get direct access to Adorno’s negotiated rates. We handle customs clearance and pieces are fully insured against damages.

Your membership will start counting from the day we publish your first pieces online, so you can safely complete the sign-up now and take your time to get everything ready. Our sales and curation team will have a close look at your uploads before publishing anything.
We spend considerable time and resources on curating, presenting, and promoting the members of the ADORNO community and in order for us to create the best results the initial term of the agreement is 12 months. After 12-months the membership can be cancelled at any time.
Reading this means that you have been curated to join Adorno. Our curators puts a lot of effort into making sure we invite makers who we believe can sell on Adorno. There is a lot of factors connected with selling, and throughout your membership we will address these based on data to increase your chances of selling.
Shipping is handled by Adorno and paid by the customer at checkout. All you have to do is to pack the piece safely according to our guidelines, and attach the documents we send to you. Shipments are fully insured against damages. All Members must comply with a 14 days return rights period. As an exception, ADORNO does not accept returns if the piece is made-to-order.
Adorno is an invite-only platform managed by our curation team and our international network of curators, to ensure we maintain the highest quality. To become a member of Adorno, the designer or studio must be working independently at the intersection of design, art, and crafts, creating unique contemporary works, spanning the fields of functional art.
