Description
Peter Donders’ “Vines” chair was inspired by the organic lines of the famous Belgian Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta, named for Horta’s nature-derived aesthetic. The lines of the chair seem to grow and interact like a living vine; this formal freedom is exactly what fascinates Peter Donders about working with 3D-printing. There’s no need for Donders to limit to his imagination. While it would be practically impossible create this shape by hand, 3D-printing makes it possible to produce incredibly complex shapes. Afterwards Donders finds the most appropriate technique to translate his 3D-printed model into a casted aluminum chair.
