Description

S.O.R (Silla Oficina Retapizada or re-upholstered office chair) is a reinvention of the office chair that are the result of a collaboration between Lucas Muñoz and designer Inés Sistiaga. This collection is commissioned by the Machado Muñoz Gallery (Madrid, Spain) for the Dezeen and Frame Award winning project for MO de Movimiento (Madrid, Spain). Following the dogmas he defined for the restaurant project in Madrid, MO de Movimiento, Inés proposed to reclaim upholstery remanents and scraps from local craftsmen. These patches were sewn together and used to re-upholster second hand office chairs.

These well-known, practical, and yet proverbialy underated from a design point of view, chairs, appear here with a whole new look and feel without sacrificing any of their functionality.

The result is a variety of 16 unique wheeled chairs (each with their respectively different sizes and Re-Upholstered textile) that kindly ask you to choose your favourite.

About the designer

Lucas has been making and producing since his early twenties. He founded eStudio enPieza! in Madrid, with David Tamame. His work there traveled the world and became part of private and public design collections (as London´s Royal Science Museum permanent founds ). Now, since 2012, works on his own from the Netherlands. Crafting pieces that take a personal look to our artificial environment. Using tools as humour and rawness, his body of work includes a wide range of typologies that span from boats and speakers to chairs and lamps. In addition to being a workshop maker, he also develops conceptual and critical work based on local and context-driven research.
