The RR400 series is a collection of recycled wearables and accessories for Roca Recicla, the zero-waste project of World’s Best Restaurant (2013, 2015, Best of the Best 2019) El Celler de Can Roca.
The “RR402” Wash Bag is made by recycling plastic pouches used for vacuum-cooking. The restaurant goes through 50 of these pouches a week. For both practical and hygiene reasons, they are confined to a single use and are not able to be recycled through traditional means due to their mixed-plastic composition. Featuring bold straps made from sustainable cotton, the plastic material is framed like a window that, in the case of the bags, showcases the contents that the user decides to place inside and in the case of the apron shows the wearer’s clothing underneath.
Each bag is sewn together by Ecosol, a local social charity in the Girona region of Spain, that employs women at risk of social exclusion.
