Limited edition of 16 pieces made of solid wood with a delicate crochet rose made of naturally dyed cotton.
It was an unexpected invitation that made me confident that I was in the right path. The love for the wood, for the work of the artisans, for the traditions and for stories had already taken hold of me, but receiving the approval from someone that I admire, gave a more solid basis for this new project.
And it was this way, by admiring even more after meeting personally, that I had the idea of inspiring myself in his story to write my own.
“Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.” Gertrude Stein
Inspired by the story of passion for the contemporary art and design of Waldick Jatobá, the piece transmits all the love of the curator for the family and the shift of his career, which has influenced the way people see the new designers and the authorial design today.
During the creation process, I have looked for inspiration in the first work acquired by him, “Pictures of Wire” from Vik Muniz, which arouse from a striking poem by Gertrude Stein: “Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.” The chair was sculpted in solid wood made of jacaranda paulista, an extremely noble material, and which have rose aromas – a reference to the poem- In order to honor Waldick. The backboard of the chair has a small strip of crochet that is transformed into a delicate rose, recovering old memories and emotions.
