“Reflecting Flame I” is an aluminium wall sculpture designed for candles. Its form plays on the flickering movement of a flame, creating a backdrop that radiates and emphasises its light. Fires’ flickering flames were our companion to the night before modern lighting allowed us to turn night into day. The wall pieces is an atmospheric piece that requires our understanding of activity and space. “Reflecting Flame I” is made of aluminium sheets that have been hammer formed to provide a backdrop for a flame. It has been treated to refract and reflect a candle’s light and movement into space.
The work is part of a series of objects designed to reintroduced the fire and is various roles back into our modern homes in safe and beautiful ways. The collection of work is an ode to the fire and the lively conversations that grew around it.
