Description

“Mosquelha” is a light sculpture conceived from the design of flying insects, which can be supported on a horizontal support or hung on the wall, providing soft lightning to the environment.

The creation process begins with sketches followed by the modelling of the piece in a natural scale for study of ergonomics and shape. From the mold the wood is cut, glued, and pressed, to then proceed to thinning and finishing

Julia Krantz
I’m an Architect, graduated in Architecture and Urbanism at the University of São Paulo in 1997. But before that, in fact since childhood, the space around us had interested me in a peculiar way. I could spend hours watching the ants dwelt on their dirt bumps, stepping in and out with provisions in such a methodical and organized choreography. In my house we could do almost everything: draw on the walls, create, direct and act in theater plays, spend an entire afternoon lying on cushions on the floor of the room listening to music and stories told or read by my mother and father. Summer vacations on Lagoinha beach in Ubatuba, North Shore of São Paulo State, brought me closer to the sinuous design of the sand, the perfect ergonomics of the seashells, the softness of the warm saltwater waves on my face. In this way, my repertoire today is translated into the creations of utilitarian (or not so much) objects, and the persevering and patient mood that the artificer work requires. Hands on wood, hands on tools, hands on sandpaper. Mind in the idea, idea on the paper, from the paper into the wood and from there to the world.
